“A unique land, superior to other lands, as art is superior to Nature, where nature is reshaped by reverie, where it corrected, beautified, remolded.”
~Charles Baudelaire “L’Invitation au Voyage”
This collection is not a post-apocalyptic dystopia, nor is it a statement on our current affairs. These images are the result of a creative explosion at play. I have always had a fondness for double exposure, which I have only accomplished in-camera. This experience has allowed me to create a world of my own. A stain in reality.
The concept is fairly simple. I combined two negatives in one negative carrier and exposed them together. I found that exposing each negative separately gave me more control over the outcome. Some are sandwiched (together) and some are composites (separate). Though the idea is simple, each image took quite a bit of time, experimentation, and funky dance moves in the darkroom to get the desired results. This is only the beginning of future projects to come. Welcome to my little corner of the world.
